What’s your favourite tech story of the month?
Here’s a selection, take your pick:
Super Mario Bros, the movie: an all-star cast has been announced for this transition from games machine to the big screen. It includes Chris Pratt as Mario, Charlie Day as his sibling Luigi, Anya Taylor-Joy as Princess Peach and Seth Rogen will be Donkey Kong. The film is due for release in December 2022.
Universal USB chargers: the EU is heavily pushing universal phone chargers and is planning to change the rules to force manufacturers to provide them. The aim is to reduce waste by encouraging consumers to re-use existing chargers when buying a new device. That can only be good news for the environment.
An AI body scanner to detect skin cancer: Australian researchers have pioneered a world-first 3D imaging system for detecting skin cancer.
An app to help manage pain: a Swedish app that creates bespoke exercise plans has been designed to help alleviate joint pain. Every day the app sends a “nudge” reminder to do a series of repetitions for five minutes, such as squats and leg lifts.
A driverless bus: a self-driving bus: manufactured in Coventry, will carry up to eight passengers on a one-mile section of road at the National Exhibition Centre. If the four-week trial is successful, more driverless vehicles could be rolled out. Would you use one?
The smart toilet: scientists and researchers are working on designs for a so-called “smart” toilet that will be able to analyse deposits and become the ultimate health monitoring tool.
And on that note we’ll leave you to ponder!
